HOME VISITS

This morning was home visit time; the first was a doctors wife with a little four month daughter. We talked, drank warm water, ate grapes and prayed. Then we headed off for the second visit. The woman we were to see operated a phone minute purchase stand and a line of five telephones. She locked up and took us to her friends home on the second floor of a six or seven floor apt. building.

In asking questions, I asked when the woman had been baptized. She answered: "20 years ago with 1000 other people." Seems a missionary and a Chinese pastor had partnered together to baptize this large number in north eastern China where all the rivers are cold. She talked about that, and then she sang the song that was so meaningful to her at her baptism. She almost couldn't finish it because she choked up and the tears (of joy) rolled down her cheeks. What a moving moment.

While I didn't capture that song on video, I did ask if she would sing again. She was excited to be asked.

From the moment I arrived until her phone rang (10+ minutes), she had been holding and squeezing my hand. She is the only Christian in her family and spoke of the disdain that her daughter in law had for her faith. But her smile betrays her jubilant Christian faith. Before we left her home for noodles, she offered us some layered bread (known in her home area) and some spicy cucumbers (tasted much better than it sounds).

Afternoon Bible class with about a dozen people and an evening English Bible study with about 40 present.

The Jiangmen Church evangelist shares The Divine Plan.

Those silhuettes certainly look Caucasian to me.

She shares her baptism and faith story.
