HEY! (or is it HAY?)

Yesterday, I took a drive through the countryside so go to Iola and pick some asparagus. The weather was beautiful.
It's haying time in Wisconsin. Farmers cut and crush the hay so that it can dry.
The hay lays in windrows so that the warm sun can dry it quickly.
The hay is then baled for winter food for cattle and horses. The newest kind of bales are these huge round bales.
These lucky cows will be recipients of the summer hard work, and the good growing of sun and rain.

Life in Wisconsin is a real joy during the summer months. From the beginning of haying season to the harvesting of corn in the late fall, a lot of what happens here is about farming, still a big industry in our state. I had wanted to get some pictures of a large dairy farm....the newest farms house about 2,000 cows, housed in huge barns, that are milked three times daily. The milking parlor is run 24/7 and the milk flows directly into huge tank trucks.
