JACQUELINE GOES TO BED

Photos are from Lake Jacqueline, located about six miles south of Shantytown, WI.

Watching darkness come over a lake can be a stunning, almost breath-taking, and most surely, relaxing experience. The setting sun only gives one more opportunity to give God thanks for His creative hand of blessing and beauty.

Watch as darkness deepens over the lake.
The shoreline shadows the tall white pine. Frogs make themselves known by loud croaks.

Just pull up a chair on the pier and suck in deep breaths of clear, cool, and FRESH air.

The absolute calm of the wind creates the glass-like reflecting surface.

The clouds touched in pink reflect a unique pattern on the quiet surface of the water.

Before settling in for the night, the red-winged blackbird utters his last "This is MY territory" calls.
So crisp now are the outlines of the trees as utter stillness falls over Lake Jacqueline.
Children often joined their parents as they prepared for bed:
"Now the light has gone away; Father, listen while I pray
Asking Thee to watch and keep and to send me quiet sleep."
Luise Hensel, 1798-1876, German
