CAMPFIRE DINNER

Karol arrived back from her Concordia Publishing House board meeting on Thursday noon (see pic). Tonight, the fire danger is down and the temperature is below 70 degrees so it's perfect for a campfire meal down by the "lake."
Our Central Wisconsin Airport has a unique passageway after you deplane and before you enter the airport lobby. You have to walk into a "glass cage. The door opens and closes behind you. Then after a moment, the door on the other side opens and you can enter the lobby.

On our way home from the airport, we spied these four sandhill cranes strutting through someone's front yard - oblivious to the people who lived in the home.

We pack all the dinner goods in the wagon and head down to the "lakeside" fire pit for the meal.
My job is to tend the fire and made sure that it is perfect for cooking.
The placid water reflects the tall spruce trees. The light breeze simply highlighted the peacefulness.

 Now it's my turn.
Here's a video of  Karol cooking.
Selle tradition mandates that we share the kinds of food that we eat. For the first time ever, Karol made baking powder biscuits over the fire in a frying pan. They were great! The dish above is called "Johnny Marzetti" - hamburger, potatoes, carrots, green beans, peppers, zucchini, and spices. For some crazy reason, I've always called this dish "Tony Maroni."

WHAT A NICE WAY TO SPEND OUR DINNER HOUR!!
