THE PROPERTY

Penny and Rob along with Karol and I bought a 40 acre piece of God's creation back in 1973. We've not always lived close to "the property," but it's been special for us; picnics, campfires, fruit trees, blackberries and raspberries, grapes, and just "a place to be." We've made a lot of wood on that acreage (along with another 66 acres that Rob and Penny bought over the years).

With Rob's bum knee and his surgery, it has taken us a while to get back to cutting wood. But now we're back!!  You'll want to see the video of  Rob at work!
On the back 40, trees have fallen over our "roads" and they all need to be cleared so that we can travel easily through the woods.
The "property" has many beautiful aspects about it. Mixed hardwoods, planted scotch pine and white pine, the north branch of the Wolf River runs through much of the acreage, open "prairie," and lots of deer and turkey. It's also the place where we hunt.
Berries from a mountain ash tree.

Buckeyes from a tree that Rob planted years ago.

Rob hunts deer while sitting in a stand in a huge oak tree. The deer are attracted to this area because the apple trees normally have fruit that hang on for a long time (into hunting season).

Flowers abound on the acreage - each season boasts a different kind.

This year, we spotted a beautiful paper wasp nest.
